Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Austin Arians scored a game-high 19 points
and pulled down nine rebounds as the Milwaukee Panthers stunned the Cleveland
State Vikings, 69-57, in Horizon League action at the Klotsche Center.
Also having a strong game for the Panthers (5-13, 1-3 HL), as they snapped a
three-game slide, was Paris Gulley with 17 points and eight rebounds, followed
by Ryan Haggerty with 12 off the bench. Jordan Aaron handed out 11 assists,
one more than Cleveland State (10-9, 2-3) had on the night.
Leading the way for the Vikings was Bryn Forbes with 16 points, while Charlie
Lee and Sebastian Douglas contributed 15 and 10 points, respectively. Marlin
Mason, who shot only 3-of-16 from the floor in a reserve role, was credited
with a game-high 14 rebounds and four blocked shots.
Both teams had trouble finding the basket in the first half, with CSU hitting
only 31.0 percent from the floor and the Panthers 33.3 percent, but thanks to
6-of-15 on the perimeter the hosts were able to put up a 28-21 lead at the
break.
In the second half Milwaukee pulled away on the strength of 56.0 percent
accuracy from the field and 6-of-10 beyond the arc, en route to the 12-point
win.
The Panthers overcame 16 turnovers and just 11-of-18 shooting at the free-
throw line by outscoring the visitors beyond the arc on the night, 36-21.
