Hattiesburg, MS (Sports Network) - Jerrold Brooks scored 20 points to lead
five players in double figures as the Southern Miss Golden Eagles routed the
Marshall Thundering Herd, 102-46, in Conference USA action at Reed Green
Coliseum.
Dwayne Davis added 19 points, Rashard McGill had 13, Daveon Boardingham tacked
on 12 and Michael Craig chipped in 10 for Southern Miss (16-4, 5-0 C-USA)
which has won eight straight.
Elijah Pittman scored 16 points and DeAndre Kane had 13 points but 11
turnovers for Marshall (9-10, 2-2) which had won two of its previous three.
Southern Miss ran out to a 53-17 lead at the break by shooting an incredible
66.7 percent from the floor including an 8-of-13 effort from beyond the arc.
The Golden Eagles continued to shoot well in the second half, connecting on
59.3 percent of their field goal attempts as they coasted to victory.
Marshall shot just 33.3 percent in the contest and turned the ball over 31
times leading to 39 points for Southern Miss.
