Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Scottie Haralson scored 19 points, leading four
teammates in double figures, as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane defeated the
Houston Cougars, 87-72, in a Conference USA clash at the Hofheinz Pavilion.
Haralson was 7-of-12 from the field, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc,
while pulling down a team-high seven rebounds for Tulsa (12-8, 4-2 C-USA),
which has won three of its last four games. James Woodard (14 points), Tim
Peete (14), Pat Swilling Jr. (11), and Kauri Black (10) all contributed
significantly to the victory.
Joseph Young scored 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting for Houston (12-6, 1-4),
which has now lost four in a row. Danuel House added 15 points and five
rebounds while TaShawn Thomas managed a double-double with 12 points and 13
rebounds to go with three blocks and two steals at the defensive end of the
floor.
Tulsa led 40-32 at halftime after shooting 53.3 percent from the field in the
first half.
In the second half the Golden Hurricane shot 48.4 percent from the floor and
outscored the Cougars 47-40.
Tulsa was 12-of-25 from 3-point range while Houston was just 5-of-20. The
visitors also scored 19 points off 14 Cougar turnovers.
