Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Reid Koenen scored a game-high 24 points off
the bench as the Texas State Bobcats held on for an 86-83 win over the Seattle
Redhawks in Western Athletic Conference action at KeyArena.
Joel Wright had 19 points and was a rebound shy of a double-double for Texas
State (7-14, 3-6 WAC) which had lost 10 of its previous 12. Phil Hawkins had
13 points to go with six assists and Corey Stern had a double-double of 10
points and 11 rebounds as well for the Bobcats.
Clarence Trent had 22 points and eight rebounds, Deshaun Sunderhaus had a
17-point, 12-rebound double-double, Chad Rasmussen chipped in 11 points, Louis
Green added 10 and Prince Obasi handed out 11 assists and was a point shy of
a double-double for Seattle (6-13, 1-8) which has lost eight of its last nine.
Seattle got out to a 42-35 lead at the half by shooting 46.2 percent from the
field including 6-of-14 from beyond the arc. Texas State shot just 38.9
percent in the first 20 minutes.
After halftime the Bobcats heated up to 50 percent shooting including a
5-of-10 showing from 3-point range. Texas State also had a 14-1 edge on points
from the free-throw line in the second half to pull away for the win.
Texas State had a massive 25-6 edge on points off turnovers which helped make
up for its 44-18 deficit on points in the paint.
