Bozeman, MT (Sports Network) - Flavien Davis scored a game-high 24 points,
as the Montana State Bobcats outlasted the Idaho State Bengals in overtime,
61-59, in a Big Sky Conference clash at Worthington Arena.
Christian Moon added 12 points for the Bobcats (9-9, 6-4 Big Sky).
For the Bengals (4-15, 3-7), Chris Hansen led the way with 20 points, while
Tomas Sanchez and Melvin Morgan both finished with 11 points.
Montana State shot 43.5 percent from the field, including 4-of-13 from 3-point
range, as it took a 29-21 lead into halftime. Idaho made just 34.8 percent of
its field goal tries, including 2-of-7 from 3-point distance.
In the second half, both teams got hot from the field. The Bengals connected
on 60 percent of their field goal tries, including 5-of-8 from 3-point
distance. The Bobcats made 50 percent of their field goal tries in the half,
going 4-of-8 from beyond the 3-point arc. After trailing by 12 midway through
the half, the Bengals mounted their comeback and briefly led, 55-54, with 2:41
remaining in regulation. A 3-pointer by Colbert put the Bobcats back in front
and a layup by Andre Hatchett for the Bengals with 33 seconds remaining
knotted the score at 57-57. Both squads missed 3-point tries in the final
seconds that would have won the game.
In the extra session, with the score even at 59-59, both teams went cold.
After the teams went over 3:30 without scoring, Antonio Biglow drained two
free-throws with 17 seconds to play to put the Bobcats back on top for good.
A Sanchez 3-point try at the buzzer was off the mark, as the Bobcats held on
and captured their third straight victory.
