Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Erik Etherly scored a game-high 25 points as
he led the Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds to a 63-51 win over the Siena Saints
in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference bout at Reitz Arena.
Dylon Cormier and Robert Olson both added 11 points for the Greyhounds (17-8,
9-4 MAAC), the latter also accounting for a team-best 10 rebounds in an effort
to make up for his 4-of-13 shooting from the floor. The win was the second in
a row for Loyola which is second in the league standings heading into the
weekend.
The Saints (6-18, 4-9) were paced by O.D. Anosike who registered yet another
double-double with 16 points and a game-high 16 boards before picking up his
fifth personal foul. Rob Poole dropped in another 12 points before he too
fouled out in the team's second straight setback.
Both teams shot under 40 percent from the floor in the first half and despite
hitting only 1-of-6 beyond the arc through the first 20 minutes of action,
Loyola led by three points at the break, 30-27.
In the second half the Greyhounds were just 38.5 percent accurate from the
field and 1-of-5 on the perimeter, yet still that was all better than the
visitors as Loyola pulled away for the double-digit win.
Overcoming a mere 2-of-11 performance behind the 3-point line, the Greyhounds
forced 19 turnovers which they converted into 24 points on the night.
