Pocatello, ID (Sports Network) - Idaho State coach Mike Kramer announced the
signing of four mid-year transfer linebackers - Robby Mackesey, Nick Albano,
P.J. Gremaud and Erik Nelson - on Thursday.
All four players will enroll at Idaho State on Jan. 14.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Nelson, who transferred from Saddleback College,
registered 55 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and two interceptions
during the 2012 season. He finished fourth on his team in tackles and added
four pass break-ups and two quarterback hurries.
Mackesey, from Cottage Grove, Wisc., was a team captain at Rochester Community
and Technical College and totaled 54 tackles, including 11 for loss, eight
sacks and four forced fumbles this past season. The 6-3, 255-pounder earned
all-region and all-conference honors as a defensive end.
Albano, a 6-1, 246-pound linebacker, also played this past season at Rochester
Community and Technical College. The Randolph, Minn., native registered 109
tackles, 10 sacks, two interceptions and 9.9 tackles per contest in 2012.
Rounding out the transfers is Germaud, a 6-2, 240-pound linebacker from
Ventura, Calif. He led Ventura College with 80 tackles this past season and
added 6.5 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
Idaho State finished the 2012 season with a 1-10 record under coach Mike
Kramer.
