Far Hills, NJ (Sports Network) - The United States Golf Association announced
on Wednesday that Hidden Creek Golf Club, in Egg Harbor Township, N.J., was
named as the host site for the 2015 USGA Senior Amateur Championship.
The dates of the championship are Sept. 26-Oct. 1.
"The USGA is pleased to bring the 2015 Senior Amateur Championship to a venue
that has supported its mission by hosting several USGA qualifying events,"
said USGA Vice President and Championship Committee Chairman Thomas J. O'Toole
Jr. "This newer yet traditional design will provide a comprehensive test for
the best senior amateur players."
Hidden Creek has been on the USGA radar for years, hosting qualifying events
for three USGA championships, most recently as a local qualifier for the 2011
Opened in 2002, Hidden Creek was designed by the team of Bill Coore and Ben
Crenshaw. Over the years, the course has received many accolades, including
one of America's 100 Best Modern Courses by Golfweek magazine.
"Our members and staff are very pleased and proud that the USGA has selected
our club to play host to this prestigious championship," said Hidden Creek
owner Roger Hansen. "Having hosted qualifiers for the U.S. Open, U.S. Women's
Open and U.S. Senior Open in past years, this is a fitting and welcome next
step in our relationship with the USGA. We look forward to providing the
Senior Amateur participants and spectators with a memorable experience."
Last year, Paul Simson defeated Curtis Skinner 4 & 3 for the title, when the
event was held at Mountain Ridge Country Club in north Jersey.
This year's event will be staged at Wade Hampton Golf Club, in Cashiers, N.C.
