Charlotte, N.C.--The Carolina Panthers announced Tuesday that the team has signed punter Nick Harris.
Harris, 6-2 and 218 pounds, is a veteran of 11 NFL seasons and played in 11 games with Jacksonville last season.
With the Jaguars, Harris generated a 42.7-yard gross average and a 37.9-yard net average on 72 punts with 13 downed inside the 20-yard line.
Since beginning his NFL career with Cincinnati in 2001, Harris has placed 239 of his 876 career punts inside the 20-yard line.
The 239 punts inside the 20 are the fourth-most in the NFL during that time.
Harris spent 2003-10 with the Detroit Lions and is the franchise's record holder in punts (627), punting yards (27,073) and punts inside the 20-yard line (189).
Harris has played in 170 career games, punting 876 times for 37,213 yards. He has a career gross average of 42.5 yards and a career net average of 35.7 yards.
