Greensboro, NC -- Several young local athletes kicked off their season by watching the U.S. soccer team go for the gold at the olympics.
Team practices for members of the Greensboro United Soccer Association start next week. But Thursday, they envisioned winning together at Kick Back Jacks. The group cheered on the U.S.A women's soccer team in their olympic gold medal match -- a rematch against Japan. With some already having a national championship under their belts, they can see themselves in that spotlight in a few years. Baylie Fuller said, "Just the feeling of us being national champions was amazing enough and to think you are playing for the whole United States that would be more than I could comprehend."
Organizers said today's game watching event was about team bonding.
By the way, the U.S. beat Japan 2-1 to take the gold.
