Durham, NC -- WFMY News 2 has confimed that NASCAR legend Junior Johnson is being treated at Duke University Medical Center.
According to a family friend, Johnson is doing well and his illness is non-life threatening.
WFMY News 2 spoke with the nurse at 9:30 PM Saturday night dealing with his condition:
"He is fine."
Johnson is nicknamed "The Last American Hero." He won 50 NASCAR races in his career as a driver. Johnson retired in 1966 before becoming a NASCAR racing team owner in the 1970's and 80's.
