Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Justin Morneau got one more chance and took
full advantage.
Morneau, after leaving the bases loaded in the third and sixth innings,
followed a Joe Mauer single with his first home run of the season in the
bottom of the eighth to give Minnesota the lead and the Twins went on to a
10-9 victory over the LA Angels of Anaheim in the finale of a three-game set
at Target Field.
Mauer also connected for his first homer, a three-run shot in fifth, and
finished 3-for-5 to highlight the Twins' 20-hit attack. Josh Willingham added
three hits with a solo homer and Denard Span went 4-for-5 with an RBI and a
run scored in the victory.
Minnesota, which rallied for a 6-5 triumph on Wednesday for its first win of
the young campaign, came back from deficits of 6-0 and 7-6 on Thursday. The
Twins then had to hold on after taking a 10-7 lead to the ninth.
