Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Lance Lynn has shown thus far that he's more
than capable of stepping up for the injured Chris Carpenter.
Lynn tossed eight strong frames and became the first MLB pitcher to register
four wins this season as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Chicago Cubs,
5-1, on Wednesday.
Lynn (4-0) fanned seven and allowed one run on six hits and two walks.
David Freese smacked a two-run homer in a three-run sixth and added an RBI
double in the eighth for St. Louis, which salvaged the finale of the three-
game set.
Bryan LaHair belted a solo shot for Chicago, which won three of its last four
coming in on the heels of a six-game losing skid.
