Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Scott Rolen's homer leading off the seventh
inning sparked a four-run rally that lifted the Cincinnati Reds to a 4-2 win
over the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.
Rolen's first homer of the season knocked Giants starter Barry Zito out of the
game and the Reds took the lead against Clay Hensley and Jeremy Affeldt.
Wilson Valdez's sacrifice fly tied the game, and the go-ahead run scored on
Affeldt's wild pitch. Joey Votto then delivered an RBI double for a 4-2 lead.
The Reds scored six in the seventh inning to win the opener of this three-game
series, 9-2, on Tuesday.
The Giants lost their seventh straight game in Cincinnati despite another good
outing from Zito, who has allowed two runs or fewer in each of his four starts
this season.
