Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - The Boston Red Sox placed left-handed starting pitcher Felix Doubront on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a right knee contusion.

The move is retroactive to Aug. 10, a day after Doubront gave up four runs in 4 1/3 innings at Cleveland.

He is 10-6 with a 4.70 earned run average in 22 starts this season.

The Red Sox recalled first baseman Mauro Gomez from Triple-A Pawtucket prior to Saturday's game against the Yankees.
