Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - The Indiana Pacers signed free agent point
guard D.J. Augustin on Friday.
Terms of the contract were not released, but it was reported to be a one-year
deal worth $3.5 million.
Augustin had spent the first four years of his career with the Charlotte
Bobcats, averaging 11.1 points, 6.4 assists and 2.3 rebounds a game through 48
contests (46 starts) last year.
"D.J. is an excellent pick-up for this team," Pacers general manager Kevin
Pritchard said. "He's an amazing kid that will fit well here with the Pacers'
family. His experience will be valuable as we move our franchise forward. Our
priority is to keep our own players and then to fill in the holes that exist.
D.J. helps us accomplish that."
The ninth overall pick in the 2008 draft, Augustin has played in 282 career
games with 142 starts for the Bobcats, averaging 10.9 points, 4.4 assists and
2.0 rebounds.
