Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - The Indianapolis Colts have reportedly
made their decision for the first pick of next week's NFL Draft and, as
expected, Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck is expected to be the overall top
selection.
The Indianapolis Star cited an NFL source as saying the Colts have made their
decision and have already informed Luck that he will be the top choice. ESPN
and the NFL Network have also reported that Luck will be the Colts' pick.
Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said Wednesday during a media session to
preview the draft that the team had settled on its pick, but he didn't divulge
the name.
"We've pretty much made up our mind and we're going to go from there," Grigson
said. "We feel really good about it. Barring anything unforeseen, we know
where we're going."
Since officially releasing Peyton Manning in March, it had been widely
speculated that Luck would be the Colts' choice. Baylor's Robert Griffin III
was also likely considered. The Heisman Trophy winner will likely be the
chosen by Washington with the second pick next week.
