Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - Brek Shea picked a good time to score his first
goal of the season for FC Dallas.
Shea scored in the 88th minute Saturday as FC Dallas rallied from a goal down
in the second half to defeat the expansion Montreal Impact, 2-1, at FC Dallas
Stadium in Major League Soccer.
Bernardo Corradi gave Montreal the lead off a penalty kick in the 61st minute,
but Blas Perez scored his third of the season the 76th and Shea followed with
his first late in normal time.
Dallas (3-2-1) won its second successive match with late heroics. Ugo Ihemelu
scored in stoppage time in a 1-0 win over the New England Revolution on April
5 in the club's last match.
Perez had one of the few good scoring chances in the first half, but Montreal
goalie Donovan Ricketts tipped his header over the bar to prevent a goal.
Felipe Martins had a rare chance for Montreal early in the second half, but a
shot from a tough angle on the left found the side netting.
Montreal (1-5-1) broke through near the hour mark, as Davy Arnaud was fouled
in the area and Corradi drove the penalty high to the middle of the net for
his first MLS goal.
Dallas was much more assertive after falling behind, and the tying goal came
in the 76th after George John headed off the crossbar and Perez headed in the
rebound from close range.
Shea followed with the match-winner when Perez flicked a header on to Fabian
Castillo, who then put Shea through into the area. Shea beat Ricketts for his
17th career goal as Dallas secured its third win of the season.
Montreal has lost all five of its road games, but will try to end that streak
at D.C. United on Wednesday. FC Dallas returns to action April 21 at Vancouver
Whitecaps FC.
