Portland, OR (Sports Network) - The Portland Timbers announced on Monday that
the club has acquired forward Sebastian Rincon on loan until the end of the
season from Uruguayan first-division side Club Atletico Atenas.
Rincon has been training with the Timbers since February and has appeared in
one reserve league match for the club.
"Sebastian has been training with us since preseason and is a young player
with tremendous potential," said Timbers head coach John Spencer. "He has a
good pedigree and possesses good size and athleticism. We are happy to have
him and hope to continue his development as a player."
The 18-year-old Rincon was a member of Deportivo Cali's youth system before
beginning his professional career at the age of 16 with the reserve team of
Colombian club Independiente Santa Fe.
