Wimbledon, England (Sports Network) - Serena Williams is in position to pick
up a second gold medal after teaming with sister Venus to reach the women's
doubles final of the Olympic tennis tournament at Wimbledon.
Serena, a short time after making short work of Maria Sharapova to claim the
women's singles gold medal, went back out to Centre Court with her older
sister and posted a 7-5, 6-4 win over the Russian tandem of Maria Kirilenko
and Nadia Petrova.
The Williams sisters will try for their third Olympic gold medal, having
previously captured the title at the Sydney Games in 2000 and again four years
ago in Beijing.
Their opponents will be the fourth-seeded Czech tandem of Andrea Hlavackova
and Lucie Hradecka, who knocked off the top-seeded American duo of Liezel
Huber and Lisa Raymond on Friday.
Huber and Raymond will take on Kirilenko and Petrova for the bronze medal on
Sunday.
