Greensboro, NC -- Firefighters came together Saturday, to rally around one of their own who's battling a rare form of blood cancer.

People came out to the Fire Station No. 7 in Greensboro  to  support Larry "Butch" Cummings.

Cummings was diagnosed with the cancer two years ago, and he continues to fight.

"He's spent almost 30 years here.  So, it's difficult.  We love him, we love each other, we're all family, and we all care about each other.  So, if one person hurts, we all hurt.  So, we're going to pray for him and come together and blend our services and help him out and be there for him," said Captain Tim Gibbs, Greensboro Fire Station No. 7.

Captain Gibbs says "Butch" has his good days and his bad days.  But, he was able to make an appearance before the event ended.  All of the money raised will go toward offsetting Cumming's medical costs.
