GREENSBORO GRASSHOPPERS

Minor League Baseball is a storied part of Greensboro history. Since 1902, fans in the Gate City have cheered for the Patriots, Hornets, Bats, and now the Grasshoppers. Famous names such as Mel Stottlemyre, Don Mattingly, Derek Jeter, Carlos Delgado and Dontrelle Willis have all played ball in a Greensboro uniform.

Following the 2004 season, the team adopted the name Grasshoppers as they prepared to play in the brand new First Horizon Park in downtown Greensboro. The Hoppers are the Class-A South Atlantic League affiliate for the Florida Marlins.

The first season in the new park drew record attendance with over 407,000 fans taking in a game in downtown Greensboro. The Hoppers continue to break their own attendance records for year after year.

In 2008, the team took the field in the newly renamed NewBridge Bank Park. Fans continue to flock to the stadium to see the best young talent in the Marlins organization.
